The Department of Public Safety has implemented a plan to meet the simple audit
requirements mandated by the federal government. We acknowledge that this issue has
been ongoing since 2016 (prior to the establishment of the DSP) as we have been working
to bring the accounting for this division up to date. The plan entails completing the audits
for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023 within this year, thus ensuring compliance with federal
requirements. Since 2021, the Public Security Department has worked to comply with the
audits of the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and now 2020. We will continue to establish internal
processes to comply the Single Audits on time.
