Finding Reference Number: 2022-002 Type of Finding: FA Finding Resolution Status: In Process Information on Universe Population Size: The finding was not a result of a sampling procedure. Sample Size Information: The finding was not a result of a sampling procedure. Identification of Repeat Finding and Finding Reference Number: This is not a repeat finding. Criteria: HUD Handbook 4350.3 provides that a security deposit of the greater of (1) one month?s total tenant payment, or (2) $50, be collected from each tenant. Statement of Condition: Per the tenant security deposit listing, it was noted that 9 out of 15 tenants had security deposits of less than $50 at June 30, 2022. Cause: The Project provided extremely low-income tenants with lower security deposit requirements. Effect or Potential Effect: The Project may not have adequate financial protection if tenants move out of the units and fail to fulfill their obligations under the lease. Auditor Non-Compliance Code: M Questioned Costs: There are no questioned costs. The finding does not relate to an undocumented transaction or unreasonable expenditure. Reporting Views of Responsible Officials: Management agrees with the finding. Management will ensure that each tenant has a minimum security deposit of $50.
