AI Summary

  • Core Issue: The Organization could not provide original documentation proving that employees on federal programs completed the necessary eligibility checks (form I-9).
  • Impacted Requirements: This lack of documentation violates federal regulations regarding employee eligibility verification.
  • Recommended Follow-Up: Implement a process to ensure all employees complete form I-9 and maintain original documentation for compliance.

Finding Text

The Organization was unable to produce original source documentation to indicate that the employees who worked on federal programs underwent a process to ensure they were eligible to work in the U.S. (completed form I-9).

Corrective Action Plan

While management was unable to locate full documentation for certain staff, those staff were generally hired before the current management team was in place. For individuals hired under current management, documentation was readily available. Management will review its policies over document retention with an emphasis on employee files to ensure documents are completed timely and saved in readily available locations.
