Notes to SEFA
The accompanying schedule of expenditures of federal awards (the Schedule) includes the federal award activity of Mountaineer Food Bank, Inc. (the Organization) under programs of the federal government for the year ended December 31, 2025. The information in this Schedule is presented in accordance with the requirements of Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations CFR part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance). Because the Schedule presents only a selected portion of the operations of the Organization, it is not intended to, and does not, present the financial position, changes in net assets or cash flows of the Organization. Additionally, due to the different reporting requirements of the financial statements from the above Schedule, some amounts presented may differ from amounts presented in, or used in, the financial statements.
Expenditures reported on the Schedule are reported on the accrual basis of accounting. Such expenditures are recognized following the cost principles contained in the Uniform Guidance, wherein certain types of expenditures are not allowable or are limited as to reimbursement.
The Organization does not seek reimbursement of indirect costs under its federal programs. Additionally, the Organization has never negotiated an indirect cost rate with its cognizant agency.
The Organization has a mortgage commitment from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This mortgage commitment is included in the federal expenditures presented in the Schedule using the beginning of the year balance of $5,108,887, plus the new commitments incurred during the year of $10,562,551. The end of the year balance is $15,671,438.
