Notes to SEFA

The accompanying schedule of expenditures of federal and state awards includes the federal and state grant activity of Children’s Hospital and Health System, Inc. and Affiliates (CHHS) and is presented on the accrual basis of accounting. The schedule includes a column labeled “Provider Agency” to present the respective CHHS affiliates with grant activity. For the year ended December 31, 2025, the four affiliates that had federal and state grant activity were Children’s Hospital and Health System, Inc. (CHS), Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Inc. (CHW), Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin (CSSW), Children’s Medical Group (CMG). The information in this schedule is presented in accordance with the requirements of Uniform Guidance and the State Single Audit Guidelines.
The auditee has a federally-approved indirect cost rate of 48.00% for CHW, a federally-approved indirect cost rate of 29.40% for CSSW, and the 15.00% de minimis indirect rate for CHS and CMG grants. CSSW also has a federally-approved fringe benefit rate of 33.50%. Certain grants limit indirect costs to amounts less than these federally-approved rates. In these cases, indirect expenses charged to the grant are reduced per the grant agreement, ensuring adherence to the fiscal policies of the funding agency.
There are no noncash awards or federal insurance awarded.
