Notes to SEFA

The accompanying Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (“Schedule”) summarizes the expenditures of Main Line Health System and Affiliates (“MLHS”), including Lankenau Institute for Medical Research (“LIMR”), under programs of the federal government for the year ended June 30, 2025. The information presented in the Schedule is presented on the accrual basis of accounting, which is in accordance with Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principals, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance). Because the Schedule presents only the federal award activity of MLHS, it is not intended to and does not present the financial position, changes in net assets and cash flows of MLHS. Negative numbers in the Schedule represent adjustments to amounts reported in prior years in the normal course of business. Assistance listing numbers and pass-through numbers are provided when available. For purposes of the Schedule, federal awards include all grants, contracts, and similar agreements entered into directly between MLHS and agencies and departments of the federal government and all sub-awards to MLHS by nonfederal organizations pursuant to federal grants, contracts and similar agreements.
LIMR, an entity of MLHS, where all indirect costs are charged to the Research and Development Cluster, applies its predetermined approved facilities and administrative rate when charging indirect costs to federal awards rather than the 10% or 15% de minimis cost rate, as applicable, as described in Section 200.414 of the Uniform Guidance. Outside of the Research and Development Cluster, there are no other indirect costs charged to federal awards.
MLHS applied for reimbursement of certain expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic under Assistance Listing 97.036, Federal Emergency Management Agency (“FEMA”) Public Assistance, through the State of Pennsylvania. Expenditures are reflected in the Schedule in the year in which a project application is obligated and expenditures have been incurred. Accordingly, the Schedule includes $2,344,176 of expenditures related to COVID-19 incurred in fiscal years 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, or 2024 for projects that were obligated in fiscal year 2025.
