Notes to SEFA
The accompanying schedule of expenditures of federal awards (the “Schedule”) includes the federal award activity of Knox College (the College) under programs of the federal government for the year ended June 30, 2025. The information in this Schedule is presented in accordance with the requirements of Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance). Because the Schedule presents only a selected portion of the operations of the College, it is not intended to and does not present the financial position, changes in net assets, or cash flows of the College. No funds were identified as having been provided by subrecipients by the College, and accordingly, no funds identified in the Schedule are attributable to subrecipient entities. There were no federal awards expended for noncash assistance or insurance at year-end.
Expenditures reported on the Schedule are reported on the accrual basis of accounting. Such expenditures are recognized following the cost principles contained in the Uniform Guidance, wherein certain types of expenditures are not allowable or are limited as to reimbursement.
The amount presented for the Federal Perkins Loans represents total loans outstanding at July 1, 2024, for which the U.S. Department of Education imposes continuing compliance requirements. As of June 30, 2025, loans outstanding totaled $363,098. Such amounts have been recorded net of an allowance of $18,157 in the College’s financial statements.
To comply with program requirements, amounts required to be expended from nonfederal sources have been excluded from reported expenditures. For June 30, 2025, the College’s portion of expenditures was as follows: Amount Provided for Program Title Federal ALN Matching Federal Work Study Program 84.033 $45,910
