Notes to SEFA

The accompanying Schedule of Federal Awards presents the activity of all federal award programs of the Career Center of Southern Illinois (the "Center"). The Center's reporting entity is defined in Note 1 to the Center's financial statements. Federal awards passed through other government agencies are included on the schedule.
The accompanying Schedule of Federal Awards is presented using the accrual basis of accounting, which is described in Note 1 to the Center's financial statements.
Federal awards received are reflected in the Center's financial statements within the Educational Fund.
Amounts reported in the accompanying Schedule of Federal Awards agree with amounts reported in the Program Financial Reports for programs which have filed final reports as of June 30, 2025, with the Illinois State Board of Education.
No amounts included in the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards were provided to subrecipients.
The Center elected not to utilize the de minimis indirect cost rate.
Section 200.502(c) of the Uniform Guidance: “When loans are made to students of an institution of higher education, but the institution of higher education does not make the loans, then only the value of loans made during the year shall be considered federal awards expended in that year. The balance of loans for previous years is not included as federal awards expended because the lender accounts for the prior balances.” The total loans granted under the Federal Direct Student Loan Program, which were not made by the Career Center, but were received by its students, were $684,705 for the year ended June 30, 2025.
The Center did not participate in any federally funded insurance programs.
