Notes to SEFA

The schedule of expenditures of federal awards and state financial assistance includes the federal grant activity presented in accordance with the requirements of Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance) and the state grant activity presented in accordance with the requirements of the State of Tennessee. Because the schedule presents only a selected portion of the operations of KIPP Nashville, it is not intended to and does not present the financial position or changes in financial position of KIPP Nashville. The schedule is prepared using the accrual basis of accounting. Expenditures are recognized following the cost principles contained in the Uniform Guidance, wherein certain types of expenditures are not allowable or are limited as to reimbursement.
KIPP Nashville had no amounts which it passed-through to subrecipients.
KIPP Nashville has elected not to use the 10-percent de minimis indirect cost rate allowed under the Uniform Guidance.
KIPP Nashville is the recipient of federal awards that do not result in cash receipts or disbursements, including distribution of U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Commodities (ALN 10.555), which are valued based on a USDA price list obtained from the Tennessee Department of Health. Distributions under such programs are included in the accompanying schedules of expenditures of federal and state awards.
