Notes to SEFA
The accompanying Schedule of Expenditure of Federal Awards (the Schedule) presents the activities in all the federal programs of The Ali Forney Center (the Organization). All Federal Awards received directly from federal agencies as well as Federal Awards passed through other governmental agencies or nonprofit organizations are included on the schedule.
The accompanying Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards is presented using the accrual basis of accounting. The amounts reported in this schedule as expenditures may differ from certain financial reports submitted to federal funding agencies due to those reports being submitted on either a cash or modified cash basis of accounting. Certain types of expenditures are not allowable or are limited as to reimbursement. The Organization has elected not to use the 10% de minimis indirect cost rate as allowed under the Uniform Guidance.
Federal program expenditures are reported in the statements of functional expenses as program expenses. In certain programs, the expenditures reported in the basic financial statements may differ from the expenditures reported in the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards due to capitalization of assets, organizations matching or in-kind contributions. The total federal awards expended per the SEFA of $2,331,215 reconciles to the “Federal Grants” line within the Statements of Activities for the year ended December 31, 2024.
For the year ended December 31, 2024, the Organization did not receive federal awards passed through another non-federal entity and did not pass any federal awards to subrecipients.
The Organization did not have federal loan or loan guarantee programs outstanding during the year ended December 31, 2024.
