Accounting Policies: 1.BASIS OF PRESENTATIONThe accompanying schedule of expenditures of federal awards (the "Schedule") includes the federal award activity of Make the Road New York (the "Organization") under programs of the federal government for the year ended December 31, 2022. The information in this Schedule is presented in accordance with the requirements of Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards ("Uniform Guidance"). Because the Schedule presents only a selected portion of the operations of the Organization, it is not intended to and does not present the financial position, changes in net assets, or cash flows of the Organization.2.SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIESExpenditures reported on the Schedule are reported on the accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America basis of accounting. Such expenditures are recognized following the cost principles contained in the Uniform Guidance, wherein certain types of expenditures are not allowable or are limited as to reimbursement. Negative amounts shown on the Schedule represent adjustments or credits made in the normal course of business to amounts reported as expenditures in prior years. 3.BASIS OF ACCOUNTINGThe accompanying schedule of expenditures of federal awards is presented using the accrual basis of accounting. The amounts reported in this schedule as expenditures may differ from certain financial reports submitted to federal funding agencies due to those reports being submitted on either a cash or modified accrual basis of accounting.4.RELATIONSHIP TO BASIC CONSOLIDATED FINANCIAL STATEMENTSFederal program expenditures are reported on the consolidated statements of activities and changes in net assets. In certain programs, the expenditures reported in the basic consolidated financial statements may differ from the expenditures reported in the schedule of expenditures of federal awards due to program expenditures exceeding grant or contract budget limitations, company matching or in-kind contributions which are not included as federal awards.5.INDIRECT COST RATEThe Organization has elected to use the 10% de minimis cost rate allowed under the Uniform Guidance.
