Title: Basis of Presentation
Accounting Policies: The accompanying Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (the Schedule) includes the Federal assistance activity of the American Dental Association, including the ADA Forsyth Institute and the ADA Science and Research Institute and is presented on the accrual basis of accounting. The information in this schedule is presented in accordance with the requirements of Uniform Guidance, as required by Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards. The Schedule is prepared on the accrual basis of accounting. Accordingly, expenditures are reported when transactions are incurred on grants and cost reimbursement contracts. Such expenditures are recognized following the cost principles contained in the Uniform Guidance, wherein certain types of expenditures are not allowable or are limited as to reimbursement.

Rate Explanation: The ADA Forsyth Institute and the ADA Science and Research Institute utilize a negotiated indirect cost rate, and as such have not elected to use the 10% de minimis.

The ADA Forsyth Institute and the ADA Science and Research Institute are the subrecipients of Federal funds, which are reported as expenditures and listed as Federal pass-through funds. Certain funds are passed through to subrecipients organizations by the Forsyth Institute. Expenditures incurred by the subrecipient organizations are included in the Schedule when disbursed to the subrecipient.
