The accompanying schedule of expenditures of federal awards including the federal grant activity of Sussex Conservation District is presented under programs of the federal government for the year ended December 31, 2023. The Schedule is presented on the accrual basis of accounting. The information in this schedule is presented in accordance with the requirements of Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance). Therefore, some amounts presented in this schedule may differ from amounts presented in or used in the preparation of the financial statements.

The District has satisfied all matching requirements. The District has used the landowner cost required to plant cover crops. This is calculated at a rate of $75.04 per acre, as defined by the NRCS, for 2023. In addition, the District used dollars received from the State of Delaware to satisfy other matching requirements.

Included in the expenditures reported on the schedule of expenditures of federal awards is non-cash assistance from the United States Department of Agriculture for the use of federal property for a total of $42,005. This amount was determined at the fair market value of the rental of the property.
