Because the Schedule presents only a selected portion of the operations of SUS, it is not intended to and does not present the financial position, changes in net assets, or cash flows of SUS.

After a presidentially declared disaster, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides ALN 97.036 Disaster Grants – Public Assistance (Presidentially Declared Disasters) to reimburse eligible costs associated with purchasing personal protective equipment (PPE), such as face masks, gloves, gowns, and disinfecting supplies, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The federal government makes reimbursements in the form of cost-shared grants that require state matching funds. The requirements of this program is that SUS would incur the expenses and FEMA approves the FEMA project worksheet prior to being eligible to being included in the Schedule. Therefore, in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2023, FEMA approved $268,191 eligible expenditures that were incurred in the prior fiscal years, which resulting in these being eligible and are included in the Schedule.

SUS has evaluated subsequent events occurring after the consolidated financial statements date of June 30, 2023 through November 30, 2023, except for its report on the supplemental schedule of expenditures of federal awards, for which the subsequent events date is March 28, 2024, which is the date these consolidated financial statements were available to be issued. No events arose during those periods that would require adjustments or additional disclosures.
