The accompanying schedule of expenditures of federal awards (Schedule) includes the federal award activity of Northern Great Lakes Initiatives and Subsidiaries (Northern Initiatives) under programs of the federal government for the year ended December 31, 2022. The information in this Schedule is presented in accordance with the requirements of Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance). Because the Schedule presents only a selected portion of the operations of Northern Initiatives, it is not intended to, and does not, present the financial position, changes in net assets, or cash flows of Northern Initiatives.

Activity in Northern Initiatives' federal loan programs included Community Development Financial Institutions Rapid Response program loan advances of $1,109,457 and Community Development Block Grants loan advances of $309,097 for the year ended December 31, 2022. The USDA Intermediary Relending Program activity included loans outstanding at December 31, 2021 of $1,943,875, principal repaid of $189,170, and loans outstanding at December 31, 2022 of $1,754,705. The RURAL Microentrepreneur and Assistance Program activity included loans outstanding at December 31, 2021 of $559,221, principal repaid of $44,296, and loans outstanding at December 31, 2022 of $514,925. The SBA Microloan Program activity included loans outstanding at December 31, 2021 of $1,444,429, new borrowings of $450,000, principal repaid of $354,075, and loans outstanding at December 31, 2022 of $1,540,354. The SBA Intermediary Loan Program activity included loans outstanding at December 31, 2021 of $577,690, principal repaid of $56,899, and loans outstanding at December 31, 2022 of $520,791. Activity in Northern Initiatives' federal loan guarantee programs for the year ended December 31, 2022 included the SBA 7(a) Loan Guarantee Program with loan guarantees outstanding at December 31, 2021 of $2,957,578, new loan guarantees of $525,975, loan guarantees expiring/paid of $722,987, and loan guarantees outstanding at December 31, 2022 of $2,760,566.
