Title: NOTE 1 - BASIS OF PRESENTATION AND SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES Accounting Policies: The accompanying schedule of expenditures of federal awards (the Schedule) includes the federal grant activity of Earlham College, including Earlham Foundation (Earlham), under programs of the federal government for the year ended June 30, 2023. The information in the Schedule is presented in accordance with the requirements of Title 2 U.S. Code of Federal Regulations Part 200, Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (Uniform Guidance). Therefore, some amounts presented in the Schedule may differ from amounts presented in, or used in the preparation of, the basic consolidated financial statements. For purposes of the Schedule, the amount reported includes the outstanding loan balance at the beginning of the fiscal year. Due to regulation changes, no further loans can be made from the program and no administrative cost allowance can be taken from the loan fund. Outstanding loan balance at June 30, 2023 $ 831,482 Outstanding loan balance at June 30, 2022 $ 1,397,164 Institutions have the option of continuing to collect on outstanding loan balances or can voluntarily liquidate the program. Earlham has no current plans to begin the Perkins liquidation process, however, Earlham is required to periodically return excess cash on hand from the program to the Department of Education.
